Do you know for sure?

Do you know for sure that if you were to die today, you would go to Heaven? This is the most important question in life to ask yourself. The Bible answers it plainly, and the answer takes only a few minutes to read.

01

We are all sinners.

Sin started in the Garden of Eden and has been passed down through man to every generation. Not one of us has lived up to God's standard, and the Bible does not soften it.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Romans 3:23
02

There is a penalty for sin.

The bad news is that sin carries a penalty, and that penalty is death and a real place called hell. This is the hard part of the message, and it is the reason the rest of it matters.

For the wages of sin is death;

Romans 6:23

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 20:15
03

Someone paid the penalty for you.

The good news is that eternal life is a free gift. The second half of Romans 6:23 turns the whole verse around, and God did it while we were still His enemies.

but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:23

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8
04

Jesus shed His blood for your sins.

God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to shed His blood on the cross for your sins. In early days, man sacrificed animals and their blood was offered as payment for sin. God sent His Son instead, so that sin could be paid for once and for all through the sacrifice of His sinless blood.

Without shedding of blood is no remission.

Hebrews 9:22
05

A gift has to be received.

As with any gift, His gift must be received for it to be yours. It is received by simply believing on Him. The word believe means to trust, to rely on. Not church membership, not baptism, not good works: believing on Jesus alone.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.

Acts 16:31

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Romans 10:13

Will you believe on and receive Him today?

My friend, you can spend eternity in Heaven if you will confess you are a sinner and believe that Jesus paid for your sins with His blood. He offers eternal life as His gift to you.

Salvation is not through church membership, baptism, doing good things, or any other man-made religion or means. It is only through believing on Jesus alone. Otherwise, why would God have sent Him to earth to die for our sins if we could save ourselves? As sinners, we cannot. Only through believing on Jesus may we be saved.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:9
